one of the most baffling thing of the pro prostitution movement is their favorite mantra, “sex work is work.” that’s so funny. what do you expect me to say, “no it isn’t?” because i don’t care. makes not a lick of difference to me. you know what else is work? child labor, sweatshop labor, prison labor, slave labor, sharecropping, indentured servitude. all work. do you know why reasonable people are against those things? it’s not because they aren’t work. it’s because the inherently exploitative and potentially injurious conditions of the jobs make them morally unjustifiable. “sex work is work,” so what? what’s your point?

hi everyone! could you fanfic readers out there please recommend a dramione read? considerations:

  • i don’t want something too dark. i really didn’t like manacled because of its universe.
  • also, that version of draco was just too cold for me. i like him most as an angsty young adult fighting his own beliefs, like in isolation.
  • speaking of isolation, i want that level of enemies to lovers. i’m currently reading dm & the mortifying ordeal of being in love, which has been fun so far, but they’re not really enemies so i’m not that invested.
  • slow burn please!!!! but not that slow. i don’t need a 600k words fic in my routine, i have to wake up and work in the morning 😭

thank you so so so much!!

Snape would have let Voldemort kill Harry if he had been at the Potter house that night instead of James.

Regardless of the bullying he suffered. Snape would let a baby be brutally murdered as his mother watched. All because he was “in love” with her. He would have held her back. Restrained her in some way. Could you imagine Lilly forgiving him for allowing/facilitating her baby son’s murder ?

That’s the crux of the argument against Snape. Even after her death Snape still valued his memories and “love” for Lilly over Harry’s well-being. He could never accept Lilly as she truly was. Happy with her family.

If the Series of Unfortunate Events Series proves anything it’s that you can care deeply about the children of someone you love. Even if that person had those children with someone else. Arguably Lemony has more of a “claim” because he and Beatrice were in an actual relationship. They did love each other. They just made very different choices. Lilly never felt romantic love for Snape.

Having a traumatic past doesn’t excuse you bullying children whom you hold immense power over. Especially two children who don’t have close family members to advocate for them. Both Neville and Harry’s parents are unable to advocate for their child.

Harry’s parents are dead, Vernon and petunia aren’t going to do anything and even if they wanted to they don’t know enough about magical society to really effect change. Plus Snape holds power over them, by being a wizard. Something Snape has already proven with Petunia (see branch). The same goes for Hermione’s parents. Sirius does a little bit but at that point a lot of the damage has already been done and it’s not like he can really turn up at Hogwarts and demand better for Harry.

Neville (no parents) on the other hand still has a grandma but she doesn’t strike me as the kind of person who would intervene if her grandson is being abused by a teacher. I know Snape has other motivations for mainly abusing Neville and Harry. Conditions he very much helped cause.

It just strikes me that Snape doesn’t really abuse the kids is people with magical parents who could effect change. Out of the golden trio he bullies Ron the least. Dean and Seamus barely get a look in. I don’t know about the kids in the other houses but it doesn’t seem like they get that much abuse. I mean he’s still a horrible teacher and all but not targeted abuse.
